About I Am the Good Shepherd:

I Am the Good Shepherd (2015) is a setting of the Communion Antiphon for the Fourth Sunday of Easter, also known as "Good Shepherd Sunday".  The text of the Antiphon is taken from John 10:14, wherein Jesus refers to himself as the Good Shepherd, and the verses are taken from Psalm 33.  The piece works well not only on the Fourth Sunday of Easter, but for any service that highlights Jesus as the Good Shepherd or which encourages us to put our trust in the Lord and his care for us.  The refrain is simple and easy for the assembly to learn.  The unmetered verses (best sung by a Cantor) set a reflective tone and allow for contemplation of the Psalm text.
