About Magnificat:

Magnificat (2008) was originally composed for use as a Communion Hymn for Marian Feasts.  The text, based on the song of Mary found in Luke 1:46-55, is a song of joy that also has bold, revolutionary implications.  Putting these words on the lips of the faithful invokes this challenging joy, and aids us in committing ourselves to God, as Mary did.  My hope is that parishes will find this musical setting up to the task of this great canticle of praise.  I believe this setting would be useful beyond Marian celebrations, and could even find a home within Christian denominations that do not share the same devotion to Mary as Catholics.
