About Psalm 51:
Psalm 51: For the Distribution of Ashes (2014) was composed specifically to accompany the ritual of signing the forehead with ashes on Ash Wednesday. It is a simple, complete setting of Psalm 51, a Psalm traditionally associated with repentance and recommended to be sung during this ritual. This setting contains a simple Antiphon the can be easily sung by the Assembly between verses.
